Frequently asked questions
Who is this training suitable for?
This training is suitable for registered audiologists and hearing aid dispensers. This training is NOT suitable for members of the public or practitioners who work outside of audiology. Trainees should have extensive audiology and otoscopy experience and feel at ease identifying key otological landmarks.
How long does the training take?
Our training model involves virtual pre-learning, a day of hands on 1:1 practical training in our clinic and follow up support. It is important that you see several patients and “ears” on the day of your practical training in order to maximise your training opportunity and start to build your confidence/competence. Your learning curve will continue well beyond your initial training. We also like to offer our trainees the chance to observe Dr. Jeff in practice before you start your practical training. This can really help to kick start the learning process.
Why should I choose to train with Jeff at the Ear Care Specialists?
Our training model offers all the practical and theoretical knowledge required for you to become confident and proficient in ear wax removal. Unlike any other training providers, we adopt a one-to-one training approach. This means you get the trainer’s full attention and get to practice on far more ears. Other popular courses often train four plus people at a time. This divides your training time and reduces the number of patients you will get to see. Quite simply, we don’t think this is good enough.
Need some other good reasons to train with us?
Jeff is qualified to teach and has many years of audiology teaching experience having worked as a senior lecturer in audiology. He has even designed and delivered wax removal training in higher education.
Jeff performs wax removal procedures daily and is highly skilled in this field. His busy Nottingham clinic will provide all the right training resources (and patients) you need to train effectively.
Do you offer any follow up preceptorship training?
Yes, we have trained a number of colleagues who haven’t built up the necessary skills to practice safely or perhaps haven’t had the opportunity to practice wax removal. In this instance, we can offer a safe and supportive training environment and access to suitable patients for further skill development.
I have done some training elsewhere but don’t yet have the confidence to practice. Can you help?
Yes, we have trained a number of colleagues who haven’t built up the necessary skills to practice safely or perhaps haven’t had the opportunity to practice wax removal. In this instance, we can offer a safe and supportive training environment and access to suitable patients for further skill development.
